§ 16-54. Cost of enforcement.

  • (a)

    The cost of enforcement of this article via removal of the offending items by the town shall be collected from the owner or occupant or person causing, permitting, or maintaining the proscribed items, or such costs may be charged against the premises and upon certificate by the mayor assessed against the real estate and collected as taxes.

    (b)

    In addition to any expenses of enforcement, the town shall be paid all attorney's fees and court costs incurred in enforcement of this article. Interest at the prime rate as set by the Federal Reserve will be accrued on unpaid balances and become part of the total cost. All these expenses shall be part of any amount asserted as a lien in favor of the town against the properties upon which this article is enforced and against the owners thereof.
